Diary - Balsam 凤仙花

If you put too many plants in a pot, they will be as skinny as mine. This batch I put 4-5 plants in a 4 inches wide pot, too lazy to transplant them.






I sowed the seeds on 16/05/2011 and now this batch have started blooming. So far I have captured 4 colours of blooms

有好长一段时间没有播新的种子了，今天选了十位佳丽

又干又松的新土

没种过花的新朋友，要播种之前要先把泥土浇湿。细小的种子就直接撒在有湿气的泥土上，比较大颗的种子象向日葵那样的就要用泥土盖１cm厚哦
To my new starter gardening friends, you need to water the new soil until it's damp before you sow the seeds. For tiny seeds, you can sow them directly on the damp soil. For bigger seeds like sunflower seeds, you need to cover it for 1cm deep.



为了保持发芽有足够的水汽，花盆下面我让它积水。要小心哦，一旦发芽了就要把积水清除，必须保持排水通畅，不然是会烂根的。
To keep the soil wet and damp, I place some water beneath the pot. Please bear in mind that, you need to remove this water as soon as your seeds have germinated. You need to maintain a good drainage soil so that the seedlings will grow healthy.

My mom can't wait the Adenium to bloom from seeds. This Adenium is bought from a garden nursery. I am not sure what is the species name, but it looks like the "Beauty Cloud" that I am selling.

老妈实在是没耐心等我用种子种富贵花，那天她按捺不住自己偷偷跑去买了一盆。我左看右看嘛，长得可实在象我的Beauty Cloud啊





This flower is called Torenia fournieri. Really heavy bloomer !!! Worth to have one at our yard, it's also a heavy re-seeder.

今天的夏堇开得灿烂。很值得种的花，因为它太会开花了，又很会生种子。

Diary - Dwarf Lotus 18/8 to 7/9

See the shaper side of the seeds? Got to make a hole from the hard coating so that the water may get into the seed.
种荷花或碗莲之前要在莲子在比较尖的这一端弄个洞，因为那壳又厚又硬，有个洞可以加速水分的进入，发芽快。


Using knife to break it is kind of dangerous way. May get our hands injured or get the seeds inner creamy core injured. My friend WongFC told me, using sand paper is the best way to do it without harming any parties. Once the water get into the seed, the coat will be getting softer and the next day I can easily remove the coat completely. Now the seeds are just look like the lotus seeds we usually have in our QingTang. The sand paper is about RM1 per piece.
花友告诉我说，用砂纸来磨比用刀片安全。所以我就到五金店买了最粗的砂纸，RM１一张。水分一旦开始进入种子，壳很快就变软了，然后我越拔越好玩，竟然把壳给拔光光了，露出的莲子跟我们平时吃甜品的一样，有层褐色的外衣。


Once done, soak the seeds into clean water. I change the cloudy water to clean water about twice a day. Otherwise, the seeds will be spoilt in the cloudy and smelly water.
搞定后就放在干净的水里面给它们泡澡，头一个星期水很快就变混浊了，我大概一天换两次水，不然水会变臭酸。




About 6 days later, the first leave is about 6 inches tall.
第六天后，叶茎有６寸长了，速度惊人




I am having about 5 leaves for each plant. The plants are very much more stronger and the tube is expanding. I think it's time I go pasar and get the vegetable seller gives me some clay taken down from the lotus tube.
目前大约有５片叶子了，水底下的茎也在伸展着哦,迟点要到pasar讨一点莲藕泥来种下去了

经过了一个星期，牵牛花的藤有有３０cm长了
The morning glory Heavenly Blue is now 30cm tall


star fire是属于娇小纤细型的万寿菊，到现在都还不需要换盆哦
Compared to othwer types of marigold, Star Fire is the smaller types. Its seedling are so tiny that I don't need to transplant them until today (3 weeks old).


不知是什么动物或昆虫来捣乱，我的马落葵前一天还长得好好的，今天早上就只剩一棵了
My malope are growing so well, but suddenly this morning only left one seedling. I doubt that there's unknown creature eating them.



种向日葵真的很有成就感，发育良好
I really like to see sun flowers growing, they are growing so fast and healthy.


波斯菊瘦瘦长长的，保持它一贯的曼妙身材。如果不是填了很多土，早就东歪西倒了
I have put on a lot of soil so that cosmos won't be collape. It's so tall and slim.



金盏菊长得好慢，三个星期过去了只长了２片真叶
The growing of calendula is kind of slow. After 3 weeks growing from seeds, they have only 2 pcs of true leaves

换盆后波斯菊长真叶了


今天终于换盆了的红太阳向日葵,拿了免洗筷子来帮它站直一点。


发了十几棵的italian white向日葵，地方不够，先换去比较挤的小盆，共换了三盆


今盏菊长不大，因为根下有白粉虫在吸它，幸好刚才被我换盆时发现消毒了。


这款万寿菊体型比较小，还不需要换盆，不过也长了真叶咯


malope长得还不错壯


mexican hat的真叶好奇特，越长越长了说


等了二星期，蒲公英才施施然的发芽，最慢就是它了，还好我没把它倒掉

大约１０天左右，mexican hat开始长出真页。它的幼苗很象我之前种的indian blanket


长得一团乱的向日葵，该是时候换盆了。看它们歪到这么不象话，必须给绑些木枝来支撑一下


才换盆３天，牵牛花就多长了两片真叶。
