1) Cosmos are so fast and easy to grow from seed
2) Sow 3mm (1/8in) deep in spring in a good seed compost. Keep soil damp but not wet, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful. Germination usually takes 5-10 days. Give plenty of light, but shade from direct sun.
3) Cosmos don't thrive in overly rich soil. They'll produce lots of tall foliage but fewer flowers.
4) Cosmos require moderate to little water.
5) Plant cosmos in groups of at least a dozen to take advantage of their wildflower-like effect.
6) If you let the dead headed flowers lay in the flower bed, they will come back for one or two more years.
